I believe this is possible and we're seeing more and more of this today. What if we added a 'why' into that like Simon Sinek talked about? What if we were able to ask students, "Do you want to have control over every aspect of your learning?" If so, we have a product for you; blended learning. Are students even able to understand their own why or would they have more buy-in into their education?
I know that I can make a difference in my student's lives, but is that enough? How do we change education as a whole? We don't. The education system is too large to change as a whole. The only way we can change is little by little. With these small changes at first, they can grow exponentially.
If I'm able to make a difference in a few students lives by allowing them to develop soft skills in addition to math knowledge, then they too can carry that on. If a few of my students see the difference that a blended classroom made to them (even if they just liked that it was different from the same old lecture type class), then maybe they'll be open to teaching a new way. âIf those few students that become teachers can influence students in the same way, now my effect has exponentially grown. Not only did I make the change, but 3 students that became teachers, changed 3 more students each into being innovative teachers. This effect grows quickly, relatively speaking. Now, what if we had a few innovative teachers in each school? Or department, in each grade? What amazing lessons could be learned?
