Anyone ever asked you how you feel about technology in the classroom? Have you stopped to think about it? Why are educators so adamate about putting technology in the classroom? I am passionate about not only integrating technology into the classroom but making a classroom blended. A blended classroom looks different from teacher to teacher just as a normal classroom changes depending on the teacher. Blended learning combines the best face-to face and online instruction in ways that customize the learning experience for each student, thus making content more accessible. Without even knowing it, I'm making a classroom based on UDL (Universal Design for Learning). Blended learning is a way to differentiate learning thus making learning a success to all! A blended classroom isn't just about integrating technology, its also about using data to see where students are struggling and where they are succeeding.
I have seen 'success' in my classroom in so many different ways. From low performing students that thrive in small group teaching, to inquisitive students that continue their learning onto the next topic/section. Students are becoming more engaged learners as opposed to passive learners and I'm becoming more of a facilitator instead of a knowledge giver. Seeing and experiencing all the ups and downs with a blended classroom drives me to continue so much that I can teach other teachers about this. want to empower and educate other educators to give students more control over their learning and thus become life-long learners. Knowing this empowers students, it can also empower employees!
