My main social media platform to network is Twitter. It also has been game changing in my classroom. I have learned from numerous people. I have implemented things in my classroom that have come from ideas from my PLN.
The following have been very beneficial in helping me grow as a person and teacher:
Anyone ever asked you how you feel about technology in the classroom? Have you stopped to think about it? Why are educators so adamate about putting technology in the classroom?
I am passionate about not only integrating technology into the classroom but making a classroom blended. A blended classroom looks different from teacher to teacher just as a normal classroom changes depending on the teacher. Blended learning combines the best face-to face and online instruction in ways that customize the learning experience for each student, thus making content more accessible. ![]() Reviewing others ePortfolios is helpful to look as to discover what I do and do not like. I loved the story of Harapnuik's boys (COVA 2018) discovering how to fix their truck. I can relate to this, also being a parent and having experienced teaching moments to my own children. As easy as it would have been to step in to fix the situation for the boys, he ended up seeing how that situation was life-changing for them. I have experienced these 'teaching moments' with my own children and am learning how to implement this with my students.
Making the switch of platforms for my ePortfolio was not only necessary but daunting! I have put so much time and effort into building essentially my website about my journey and me, and now I'm moving it! And I thought moving was bad!!!
I started my ePortfolio on Google Sites. This is the same platform that I use for my teacher website for school. My students reference the website for tools to supplement their learning and also as a place for them to submit their assignments.
